As I turned the street corner toward the Ritz hotel, a nostalgic sensation overcame me, a tingle of excitement. Approaching the entrance, the uniformed doorman held open the door, a special door that lead into unique world, a world of the past. No longer was I in the 21th century London, but in the era of the 1920s. Stepping into the reception area there was an old woman, dressed in elegant clothes in what only can be described as a pure white classic chanel suit, a large cartwheel hat with a dark red ribbon, finishing the look with a pair of black high heels. The woman’s appearance was truly memorising and breath-taking. The old woman was clutching a handkerchief and her eyes looked puffed out and red, as if she had been crying. I imagined she been waiting for her long lost lover and he’d never returned.
