I need to pick your brain

I’m in the process of designing my own magazine, it will be a teen magazine aimed roughly to 16-18 (so a small niche market) girls. I just need to pick your brain and wondering if you could give me some general feedback as part of my research. The magazine is so far going to be called ‘Rosie Cheeks’ and it will be a fashion, beauty and health magazine (as they are area in which I’m interested in writing) bi-annually.

What will make mine hopefully original is that I’m styling it (or at least putting the foundation) on old 1960s teen magazines or old girls annuals such as bunty.

Teen magazines these days are so full of sex, drugs, celebriites, boy and so on – i think it be nice for the teen generation to revert back to ‘olden day’ and innocent, articles will include shopping pages on online boutique and high street trend report while including ‘Lula magazine style’ photo shoots (Lula is a bi-annual magazine and it very clean and fresh and so beautiful) while on the health aspect give advice, feature on how to be healthy and to enjoy life.

I’m still in the process of discussing this with my tutor and I’m still researching, but i just would like to know, is there a market for this type of magazine? Would teens buy it? I think image and looking good is so important for this generation – but what about self-confident? And looking after yourself?

If you fit in this age bracket (16-18) would you buy it? I chose this age bracket as it an age when teens leave school, start doing A-level and prepare for uni, they also start having a Saturday job and have income.

So what do you guys think? Would you be interested? I’m picturing it to be a cross between oh comely and Lula in term of designs.

Please give me feedback as it would be so important to me.

Thank you so much.

The opening of the new Boux Avenue

Yesterday i was invited to an opening of the new Boux Avenue Boutique in Guilford. It a lingerie store and specialise from the very sexy to the very comfy underwear, as well as soft nightwear to wear around the house. I will admit lingerie is an area of womenswear where i hasn’t really explored before so i was really excited in being invited and getting a first hand glimpse of lingerie shopping.

Oh by the way did i mention it owned by Theo Paphitis, yes the guy from the BBC show Dragon Den.

And did i also forget to mention that i eventually manage to get a photo with him.

The boutique itself was beautifully laid out and it has an aura of french boutique you would find in Paris. I think these pictures would speak louder than words. (These might get a little image heavy, sorry!)

I

(This was the dressing room, it was the nicest dressing room design i have seen ever.)

This is me leaving the store after treating myself (naturally!)

I shall finished by saying all good press opening is not complete without the goody bag.

This included gift card, sexy knicker, lip balm and hand cream.

A big thank you to Laura and her team for inviting me and if you are in the Guildford, surrey area i really recommend in visting the store as they really caters to everyone invidual need.
