Promise for the new year

I should really be working on my uni works right now but I’m not really in the mood right now, I’m suppose to be writing a socio-demographic analysis on The Daily Mirror, but trying to find facts and figure is not that easy when you can’t find the information you need. Grrr….

Anyway instead i decide to write in here as it a lot more fun. How was your Christmas? Mine, was fun. The week leading up to Christmas i was working overtime at Waitrose to get some extra cash, kinda glad all my overtime is over, it can get a little repeated. For Christmas my boyfriend brought me Shoes and boots, got all the usual girlie things, i might try and them on here.

So this is the first post on 2010. I suppose i better write my ten promise of the year:

  1. Be more healthy and exercise more.
  2. Slim down to a permanent UK dress size 10.
  3. Don’t be such a shopaholic and wasteful of money.
  4. Try and save money rather than spend it.
  5. Do something with my hair – it just boring and horrible.
  6. Watch more Arty/foreign film.
  7. Read more Arty books
  8. Listen to more indie bands/ go to a festival
  9. Think before i speak -  not to get so wound-up.
  10. Sort out my wardrobe.

There you have it, it be interesting to read this in 12 month and if i achieved anything.

The beautifulstyle now have a facebook group!!

I blog this…

Hi, first got to give a shout-out to FJN friends who have found my little home on the web – please tell me what you think of it.

Secondly I felt really smug in yesterday lecture, we had a full 2 hours lecture on blog. I was in my perfect element! I consider myself to be the first generation of blogger – let me explains. I’m 26 years old and about ten years ago – 1999 the internet was still in it early development, at this time window xp wasn’t even released, we had no YouTube, we had Google but yahoo was very much king and oh no iTunes either. One day when I was bored of looking at pop idols website – I stumbled across a personal website written by someone ordinary, she was from Australia and merely had a site devoted on herself, wow this opened a whole new world for me. She had a journal – an opened journal for everyone to read.This was a strange concept as I thought journal you write was suppose to private, she would write about her friends,her work and even post pictures of herself. I clicked on links she had and found another bunches of people doing the same thing, then a thought come into my head – I’m going to do that, I’m going to write a journal so everyone can read. So that was 10 years ago before the word ‘journal’ got tuned into ‘blog’ (short for weblog) and I have been doing it ever since. At 18 I got my first domain and set that up (but it didn’t last long) and gone from blogger to wordpress to everything in between. I consider myself the first person generation to fully gasp this blogging phenomenon and watch it grow to a big industry-related structure of journalism.
Everything the lecture guy was saying yesterday I felt like I already knew – I was there at it birth, the girl ‘blog’ was the same age as me and we both gasp this new technology together.

All that fashion Jazz….

Do you really want  me to explains about absent? I’m thoroughly enjoying university, the lecture and the tutors are brilliant and everyone on my course is really friendly. Oh there might be a small matter of a paris trip coming up…Ohhh lala…

Anyway a few week ago we had to write about why we want to be fashion journalist. Here what i wrote:

As a young child I was a huge superman fan! In my head I would dream that I was Lois Lane and I could call out ‘superman!’ If I was ever in trouble, I could fly above the city and be a groundbreaking journalist. Of course this was all make believe and not a reality, still it a strike a huge core in me. As I got older I reads the very classic books series ‘Sweet valley high’, in my dream I convinced myself I was the real life character ‘Elizabeth Wakefield’, Straight A student who was caring and determines – someone who wanted to be a writer as well. I could imagine all the exciting adventure I could go on and under-covered hidden plots and evil deeds.

I love Fashion, it a huge passion of mine. As a child I would draws wedding dress and play dressing up with my mum clothes.

Growing up I would read magazines I couldn’t help myself. Reading magazines such as Sugar and Smash Hits was a favourite pastime for me. It was in my late teenager years that I decided ‘I want to do that’, I wanted to be fashion writer. I will admit I wasn’t sure how I was going to accomplished this, until one day I found a blog online called ‘Catwalk-queen.net’ (now it catwalkqueen.tv) written by Gemma Cartwright. She was a student at the London College Of Fashion studying Fashion Journalist. Bingo! I found my open door and while looking on the college website I found an Access course which will enable you to go on further and higher. This sounded like the perfect opportunity for me, not long after I discovered UCA and a campus, which was just outside, where I live and it has fashion journalism.  I can imagine myself sitting on the front row watching catwalk shows and creating my own piece, travelling and meeting people. One day I could be the next Anna Wintor.

Good Morning Monday

Hello after weeks – month – years of searching and yelling at my computer monitor, i think i have finally found a decent suitable clean wordpress theme i can finally used!! It works well in both IE and Mozilla, its readable and Its doesn’t hurt your eyes with all the colour. So hopefully i won’t have to play around with the themes for a while.

Anyway  moving on. I woke up in a sunny happy mood and for the first time in a long time i was actually glad it was a Monday Morning! No work for 5 days now as i have finished all my over-time at Waitrose, So i get the next few day completely free and i know I’m so going to enjoy it.  I also think i got paid today (i hasn’t actually check my bank balance) so that always an added bonus, but planning on pretending to myself I’m still broke for the next few day as the reason for my summer of over-time work was that i didn’t want to be in the red anymore and was trying to pull myself out of it.  So sensible thinking is in order here.

I also been giving the all cleared by my university – UCA to enrolled and on Thursday they changing my status from condition to unconditional. Yay! My induction week start on the 14th September and I cannot express how mega excited i am, My boyfriend Richard has to keep calming me down and told me not to be excited in case it a let down. I’m hoping in getting my student loans at the end of this month as i got a friend who starting a college course and i said i help her out with her tutorian fees.

strawberry-colada Mmmm favorite cocktails of the month is the Strawberry Colada. I had it last night when i went out and yummy! To learn to make this yummy cocktails – here is the recipe:

Ingredients:
- 1 oz Light Rum
- 1 oz Dark Rum
- 1 oz Coconut Cream
- 1 cup Ice
- 4 oz Pineapple Juice
- 4 Strawberries
- Garnish: Pineapple Wedge
- Glassware: Collins Glass

Combine all the ingredients in a blender well at high speed. Pour into a collins glass and serve with a straw. Garnish with a Pineapple Wedge

Anyway I’m off to do some food shopping and maybe have carmel crunch at my local Costa cofee. Have a fun Monday!

Let me explains the situation….

…..about this blog and myself and in bite size:

  • This site and wordpress for a month had a nasty illness ( kinda like swine flu) that both me and my host couldn’t at first get rid of it.
  • A massive thank you to E-Starr for sorting out the problem and fixing everything – you guys are awsome.
  • My computer caught an awful virus and crashed everything – only had time to back-up my photos
  • i’m working a loads of over-time at Waitrose this summer
  • I have no time for fun…
  • Well maybe a little bit of fun – been playing on the sims 3 and playstation non-stop
  • Sorting out uni problem and getting everything ready for September
  • i’m trying to drop a dress size – so i’m on the special k diet.

And that it really – i’m a little p***ed off that i lost my orignal content on this site and having to re-work it again but please bare with me.  In a week time hopefully i can spend more time devoted on here…..
